We're still here.

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I posted. Actually I can. July has been so busy and hasn't slowed down yet. I now see it as the month that never ends. We've been so busy, but I kind of wish we could just get to the other side of it because August will be much calmer. It seems all the kids' activities have been stacked up in July.

Anyway, I'll post about some of what's been going on over the last two weeks when I have more time. One of the highlights for me was Houston Project. It deserves its own post. It was a wonderful time for our whole family, even Meagan! We also had a fun 4th of July. The girls rode their bicycles in our neighborhood parade for the first time. They were so cute. Emma's little legs pedalled at least 5 times to Allison's one - Emma is still riding the Radio Flyer tricycle. It's my way of keeping her little - by watching her ride a tricycle of which her knees barely clear the handle bars. She's happy and until her knees actually do knock the handle bars and I have to drag myself to Toys R Us to see her try out big girl bikes through teary eyes, the Radio Flyer will continue to be her sweet friend (she talks to it. its name is trike. she says it talks back to her.)

Here's a random little ditty - Today we had a pretend birthday party for Bella, Emma's American Girl bitty twin. When Emma informed me it was her birthday, I said it was impossible. As I recalled, I just made rice crispy treats last fall for her birthday. I tried to explain how birthdays come once a year. To which my brown eyed girl said, "Not pretend birthdays! This is just P-R-E-T-E-N-D." Thank the Lord, all she wanted was candles stuck into a pancake for Bella. Poor Bella, apparently she's afraid of fire because Emma kept comforting her through the happy birthday song, reassuring her she would not get burned. Meagan enjoyed cheerios during the festivities.

Meagan's first tooth finally broke through and she's still working on the second. This has started waking her up in the night again and she's hit a new developmental milestone: fighting sleep. It's a dandy.

But her tiny little tooth that's barely peeking through the pink gums is so cute. So, I am doing my best to get a good shot to share.

Allison has been attending Vacation Bible School with her buddy Abby. This is her third Bible School this summer. She attended our church's and the Bible School during Houston Project - though technically she was my helper at Houston Project. And a very good one, I might add. Last week she attended a drama camp and besides learning a few songs and choreography, also learned to rap the scriptures in a way that was hilariously fun to watch, but clearly not Baptist - or at least not the kind of Baptist I was raised. And I will be the first to shout from the rooftop I couldn't be happier! Freedom is refreshing.

That's enough random thoughts for one post. More to come later...

That is so hilarious about the birthday pancake and Bella getting burned! I laughed so hard -- I could totally picture Emma saying, "This is just P-R-E-T-E-N-D." That's an Emma statement if I've ever heard one.

It's next to impossible to say no to those eyes. She was right, and I'm glad we had the pancake party. Everyone needs an Emma to throw a monkey wrench in their important, busy plans.
