Guess what!

From Emma, a couple of days ago:

Emma: Mama, guess what!

Me: What?

Emma: Mason (name has been changed to protect the innocent) is going to be in Mrs. Loftin's class for first grade, just like me, because I said, "I'm going to be in first grade next year and Mrs. Loftin is going to be my teacher." and Mason said, "ME TOO! I'm going to be in Mrs. Loftin's class too, Emma!" Isn't that great!

Me: Yes, that is great. I know he is your friend.

Emma: Yes, he IS my friend. And maybe first grade is when Mason will learn to stop picking his boogers!

Me: You know what - maybe so.

The lesson...being a supportive friend means hoping for the best, without judgment.
