Proverbs...by Allison

I came across this in Allison's school work. The title is "proverbs" and it's a list of the beginning of common sayings, and the student was to fill in the blank with what they thought was the ending. She got a few right, but most of them were...less than right. So, here are some of Allison's proverbs: (her responses in bold.)

You can lead a horse to water but...you can't make it drink. (Good job, baby.)

Better safe than...lost. (True, though not how the saying goes.)

It's always darkest before...bed.

Never underestimate the power of...God. (Good girl.)

No news is...bad. (Only if you're a cable news network it's a "slow news week.")

Where there's smoke, there's...God. (This just might be scriptural. There's the burning bush, maybe more examples.)

Two's company, three's...hosts. (Like a shower for a girlfriend?)

Don't put off tomorrow what...happens today. (Not sure...)

You get out of something what you...don't wanna do. (You wish!)

A penny saved is...good luck. (In this economy, it's a miracle.)

Children should be seen, not...treated badly. (Oh, dear.)

If at first you don't succeed...you try, try again.
