Know that song from Father of the Bride? Well, I think it's pre-Father of the Bride, in fact, I know it is. Still..that was the first time I heard it. So, what's new around here?
We have been insanely busy. We went on a little trip to the hill country with Mark's family. Lots of swimming and smore making and a night-time ride looking at deer and searching for the elusive chupacabra.
We've been potty training and I am happy to report I'd consider the tee-tee part a success. I'd consider the poo-poo part a partial success in that for exactly a week Meagan was happy to poo-poo on the potty. After a week, she took it back and decided to poop in every pair of panties I have bought her. It stinks, literally. I could go on because I feel very negative about this, but I'm going to just move on.
The girls "cooked" our dinner tonite, which was pancakes and Texas-shaped waffles. They each mixed their own bowls of batter reading and following the recipe. I knew Allison could do that, but Emma...the little booger read and followed the directions with minimal help. So proud of her and how good of a little reader she is becoming! I just wish she liked reading more. She'd rather play. That's okay, it'll come. I didn't particularly like reading at that age either, but I do love to read now. Allison was also a good reader at this age, and she loved and still does love to read. Meagan is not a reader, sorry "Your Baby Can Read" fans, but she does like looking at the pictures in her books and she has memorized a lot of her favorite stories and recites them along with me. As for "Your Baby Can Read," Emma (our commercial LOVER) begs me every time she sees that commercial to buy the system for Meagan. (eye roll)
Meagan is in the living room laying on the couch by her daddy watching "Star Trek: The Next Generation." I just heard her say, "OOOOOHHH! He's GWOSS!" I assume Worf was on the screen.
Allison is behind me reading over my shoulder so here's a little shout out to Nosy Rosy: Hi Punkin! Have you brushed your teeth?
My crowd grew...Now Meagan is on my lap, and I have two daughters looking over my shoulders. Allison just asked me about my blog title and after I sang the song to her, she said, "I don't like that song...that's a weird song." It is weird, but it's fun to sing.
Emma says our hermit crabs need to be fed and they need water in their sponge. BLAAAAHHHH is what I say to that. So glad we don't have a dog right now!
Emma would like for you to know we have TONS of tiny baby frogs in our back yard. We have to be careful where we step and always be looking down when we go back there. My girls just told me they caught a big bullfrog in the backyard and put the poor guy in their bug catcher, where apprently he lost a foot. I would not want to be a frog in this yard. Sorry, fella.
We've been working in the yard a lot lately and it is really shaping up! We've been needing to give it some good attention for a long while now and I'm glad we've been working out there.
Allison already has her class assignment for next year and I am really looking forward to her new teacher. Her 3rd grade teacher was awesome (Allison said I needed to do caps lock on that word "awesome.") And I think her teacher this year will be just as great, but in different ways. Allison is going to be in 4th grade. FOURTH STINKING GRADE! What is happening???? Moving on...
Emma is going to first grade. That is hard to believe also. She will have the same first grade teacher Allison had and I absolutely love her! Emma is going to love being in first grade with Mrs. Loftin. Mrs. Loftin was Allison's most favorite teacher until last year when she had Mrs. Mueller. Now Mrs. Mueller and Mrs. Loftin are tied for first place.
Well, I think that's enough for now...
Oh, my word...how could I forget?! My new nephew might be coming any day! Baby C.J. is acting like he's ready, so we'll just have to see what happens there! I can't wait to meet him. The big girls have been looking forward to his arrival for a while, and just this past weekend, Meagan started talking about "Baby C.J." for the first time. She doesn't exactly understand what is about to happen, but she'll catch on fast after that little buckaroo is born.
