Lunesta

After trying to go to sleep tonite for all of about 90 seconds, Emma comes to the computer room to tell me...

"Mama, I need some lunesta."

To which I responded,

"Emma, what the heck is lunesta?"

She explained,

"It's this little blue butterfly (waving her arms gracefully like a butterfly) that comes in your room (pause for effect) and lands on your back and helps you fall asleep, and stay asleep. And I need that, because I can't fall asleep. I'm wiggly and wobbly and hyper."

At this point I realized she was asking me for a sleeping pill, the commercial for which she's obviously seen on t.v. Except she thinks it's a butterfly that will land on your back and magically help you fall asleep. I guess that's what she thinks.

I told her Lunesta is medicine and she didn't need any medicine. She ended up telling me she has purple medicine in the kitchen (Children's Tylenol) and maybe I'd like to go get her some of that. To which I promptly explained no I would not like to go get her some of that purple medicine.

Would it surprise you to know Emma wants a fushigi for Easter? She says it's a magic ball. Again, she's all up in fushigi's business because she loves the commercial. She loves any commercial, actually. I have to change the channel if I see that animal cruelty/sponsorship commercial come on because she cannot understand why I won't sponsor an abused animal for only $30 a month. She's also expressed interest in the prospect of attending college in her pajamas. Wonderful.

Just today I told Emma I was thinking about home schooling Meagan for kindergarten when the time comes, and Emma's response was, "Oh, so you're finally going to buy Meagan "My Baby Can Read?" I reminded her that I taught both her big sister and her how to read before they started kindergarten, without "My Baby Can Read."

Emma....my Emma. They broke the mold after that one. So glad I got her.

Sweet Pea, that is funny!!!

And scary, too!!! We are going to have to wait to watch recorded-only shows so we can fast-forward the commercials.

I love you!
Dadda.
