"TROPHYYYYYYY!"

Emma played t-ball this fall. Her exact comments regarding t-ball after about 3 games were:
"At first I wasn't sure about t-ball, but now I'm used to it." I wasn't sure how to take that. Does that mean she likes it or she's tolerating it? Anyway, after about 2 games, I told her I wanted her to smack the ball when she was up to bat. And she said, "Mama, I can't do that. I don't want to hurt anyone with the ball." Literally, she had been tapping the ball off the tee until then. I assured her no one would be hurt. And from then on she really did try to hit the ball harder. I wish I could figure out how to put video on this blog. If I could, you could watch her daddy literally pick her up and put her in front of countless grounders.

The best part was her excitement this past Saturday - their last game - knowing she was going to get a "TROPHYYYY", which is how she said it every single time - with a dramatic, long eeeeeee sound at the end. Very, very excited about that trophy. I sat with her at the t-ball "after party" (ha) where the players were enjoying cupcakes and Capri Sun. I was the only adult at the table for 4. Emma dominated the conversation; clearly, no one else understood the significance of trophy day besides her. Or maybe they already had trophies of their own. Regardless, my daughter wide eyed explained that "Today is trophy day and we are getting a trophy and this is going to be my FIRST trophy! My sissy has four trophies but I don't have any yet. Until I get my t-ball trophy. And then I'm gonna have my own TROPHYYYYY!" It was so fun and cute. Yea for trophies and sports and cupcakes!
