This morning I made deer sausage for breakfast. I usually like to make biscuits or toast with it, but I didn't do that this morning because Meagan was "hungwy" and when she's hungwy, it's hard for her to wait to eat. Plus, Meagan loves cookies, chips, and all manor of junk food. So, when she's hungry, she wants us to give her junk because she likes it and she doesn't have to wait for it to be cooked or cut up or prepared in any way.
Well, I gave Meagan her sausage and got busy with something else, and she came and found me and said, "Mama, I weally wike my sausages Mama!" Then hugged me and walked out. As she was walking out she topped it off with, "Thank you, mama!"
Oh. my. word. Baby, do you want a 5 course breakfast now? Because if you're going to melt my heart like that.... When it comes to cooking, mama can deliver.
So, she goes back to the table and comes back about 10 minutes later with her empty Minnie Mouse bowl, just smiling.
"I done, mama!"
This is all major progress. Meagan is just not an eater and when she does want to eat, like I said above, she prefers fake food (junk food.) This has been a struggle for most of her life. This past week, I have really cracked down with making her eat and delivering consequences when she doesn't. It has been unpleasant for both of us, but I need to remember that consistent training does produce results. By no means do I dare to think we are finished with helping Meagan in this area, but we made huge strides this past week.
