Yummy Cook With Me Meatballs

I have been looking for a simple, but delicious, meatball recipe for a while now and I think I finally found one on About.com. If you'd like to get the recipe off the site you can click here. It's simple, calls for stuff you probably already have, and you can get your kids involved by letting them help you roll the meatballs. This time I made it myself; but next time the girls are going to get their hands dirty with me.

A little sidenote: I didn't have Italian bread crumbs, so I added a pinch of Emeril's Italian Essence. I think it did the trick.

Another little sidenote: The title of the recipe is "Maria's Italian Meatballs," but I changed the name for the purpose of this blog because my girls love to cook with me and I'm always looking for things they can do pretty independently in the kitchen besides pigs in a blanket. This recipe qualifies.

Here it is:

Ingredients:
•1 lb lean ground beef (or in our case - venison)
•1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
•1/3 cup water (more or less)
•1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
•1 medium onion
•garlic
•salt
•pepper

Preparation:
Mix all ingredients together. Don't add all of the water at one time. Mixture should be moist but not so that the meatballs fall apart.
Shape meatballs to desired size and place on a broiler pan (I wet my hands before shaping each meatball and it helps make a nice meatball.) Broil until outside is slightly brown on one side and then turn and broil the other side. When finished, add to spaghetti sauce and simmer at least 20 minutes.
